Police: Disturbance, impaired driving, stolen car in Blenheim

Disturbance leads to charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, around 6 p.m. police responded to a domestic disturbance in a parking lot on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that during a verbal argument, the man damaged the woman’s car.

Police further learned that the woman was currently bound by conditions not to communicate with the man and that the man was currently wanted on an outstanding warrant for assault.

Officers located the man a short distance away on Sheldon Avenue and he was taken into custody.

The 37-year-old Chatham man was charged with mischief under $5,000 and facilitating a breach.

The 28-year-old Tilbury woman was arrested and charged with failing to comply with her release conditions.

Both have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Woman charged with impaired driving

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 3 a.m. this morning, on officer on general patrol observed the woman fail to stop for a stop sign in the area of McLean Street and William Street in Chatham.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and through investigation suspected the woman was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

A roadside breath test was completed and the woman failed.

The woman was arrested and transported to police headquarters for further tests.

A 27-year-old Chatham woman was charged with having a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit.

She was released pending a future court date of March 24, 2021.

Man charged with driving while under suspension

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, an officer with the Traffic Unit initiated a traffic stop on Park Avenue in Chatham.

Through investigation, the officer learned that the man was suspended from driving.

The 44-year-old Bothwell man was charged with driving while under suspension, driving with plates not authorized for the vehicle and driving with no insurance.

The license plates were seized and the vehicle was impounded for seven days as per the Vehicle Impoundment Program.

He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on May 5, 2021.

Stolen car in Blenheim

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, unknown suspects stole a 2020 black Toyota Corolla rental car from a residence on Anger Street.

The car was last seen with Nova Scotia license plates GNP 211.
