Police: Threats, disturbance, drug charges

Pair found together and arrested

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was currently bound by conditions not to communicate with the woman or attend her address.

The 52-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He was held pending a bail hearing and remanded into custody until March 9, 2021.

The 39-year-old Chatham woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court.

She was held in custody pending a bail hearing and released with a future court date of March 30, 2021.

Man charged with uttering threats

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Chatham.

Through investigation, police learned that the man threatened the victim via text messages then drove to his home.

Upon arrival, the victim was outside when the man drove up over the curb and sidewalk, narrowly missing the victim with his car.

The victim ran into his residence as the man honked his horn and texted him to come back out and fight.

As the victim exited his home, a verbal argument started as the man was now in possession of a hunting knife.

Police arrived before the incident escalated into a physical altercation.

The 22-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with uttering threats, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and being in possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Bail violation leads to drug charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Friday, March 6, 2021 at approximately 9 a.m., officers responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle on Flemingo Street in Blenheim.

Officers located a 24-year-old Blenheim man who was under court orders to obey a curfew and not to possess any controlled substances.

The man was arrested for breaching his curfew, and upon being searched incident to arrest, he was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

The man was arrested, transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters and remained in custody for bail.

Intoxicated female arrested in Tilbury

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday, March 6, 2021 at approximately 7:20 p.m., officers attended an address on Mill Street in Tilbury in response to an intoxicated female.

A 45-year-old Tilbury woman was located and charged for being intoxicated in a public place, taken into custody and transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters as she was unable to care for herself, and was released from custody when sober.

Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE)

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday night, officers conducted RIDE spot checks throughout the municipality.

A total of 150 vehicles were checked with two roadside breath tests administered.

Two drivers were charged.

As road safety is a priority for our Police Service, we would like to remind everyone that RIDE spot checks will continue throughout the year across our community in an effort to keep all road users safe.
