Helena Moore formerly of Wallaceburg

Helena Moore (nee DeWeyn), a former resident of the Wallaceburg area, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2021, at the age of 88, at Meadowview Villa in Petrolia.

Helena was the loving mother of Patricia (Bill) Towers, Julie (Al) Lindsay, John Moore (deceased) and Kathleen Moore (deceased).

She had nine grandchildren: Cindy Hetherington, Wendy (Scott) McEvoy, Kari (Steve) Marin, Donald (Andrea) Joyce, Kristy Lindsay, Jason (Nancy) Towers, Kelly (Jim Windgrove) Towers, Debra (Jamie) Downey and Cody Hamer.

Fifteen great-grandchildren: Steven Perger, Kimberley McEvoy, Ty Hetherington, Katie McEvoy, Elle Towers, Sierra Kameka, Morgan Marin, Wilson Towers, Linayah Windgrove, Lawson Windgrove, Hudson Marin, Leevi Lindsay, Campbell Towers, Abigail Downey and James Downey.

She also had four great-great grandchildren: Liam Perger, Finley Perger, Kenley Perger and Max Perger.

Helena was the daughter of the late John and Rosalie (Neve) DeWeyn and is survived by her brother Fred (Rose) DeWeyn.

She was predeceased by her husband – Donald Moore, sister – Connie (Rene) Lauwereys and brother – Joseph (Mary) DeWeyn.

Helena will always be remembered as a fun-loving person and for her ability to put on huge tasty meals – with each guest having their own favorite dessert, her renowned butter tarts and her love of quilting.

Family and friends are invited for visitation at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME (409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg) on Sunday, April 25, 2021 from 1-6pm.

A private family funeral will be held on April 26, 2021 with burial at Riverview Cemetery to follow.
