Pfizer vaccine shipment delay in Chatham-Kent

CK Public Health has been informed by the province that their regular Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine shipment will be delayed this week.

As a result, the scheduled clinic at the Bradley Centre in Chatham will be impacted this Wednesday June 23, 2021 as follows:

– Youth age 12-17 appointments will receive Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine

– Adults 18+ will be vaccinated with Moderna mRNA vaccine

“We are fortunate to have extra Moderna supply in stock at this time so no appointments need to be cancelled,” CK Public health officials say.

“Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech are both mRNA vaccines and are so similar that they are interchangeable. To ensure maximum protection against COVID-19 and the Delta variant, CK Public Health recommends that Chatham-Kent residents get fully vaccinated, with the first vaccine available to them, as soon as they can. Those wishing to receive Pfizer-BioNTech will need to reschedule their appointment.”

The remaining Pfizer-BioNTech appointments scheduled for Thursday June 24, Friday June 25 and Saturday June 26 will not be impacted by the shipment delay and will continue as planned, CK Public Health officials added.
