Firefighters from Stations #3 – Wallaceburg and #2 – Chatham responded to 100 Mason Street in Wallaceburg for a metal tank fire on Tuesday, July 6, 2021.
“Station 3 Wallaceburg and Station 2 Chatham attended for a recycling yard fire at Stealth Metals Tuesday morning. Employees were cutting a steel tank when an unknown residue ignited. The fire was contained to the tank and flames were quickly knocked down. Crews remained on scene cooling the tank until 1pm. No injuries were reported. The property owner will be contacting the Ministry of the Environment.”
Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services officials say crews responded at 11:10 a.m. and there were no injuries.
Fire officials tweeted at 12:04 p.m. that firefighters were still on scene, along with the Chatham-Kent Police Service and Chatham-Kent EMS.
