Police: Drug trafficking, B&E thwarted, speeding, vehicle stolen

Man Charged with Drug Offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Late last night, an officer on general patrol observed the man riding a bicycle on Degge Street in Chatham.

A traffic stop was initiated and through investigation, the man was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl and large quantity of cash.

A 39-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking.

He was released pending a future court date of August 19, 2021.

Woman Charged with Drug Offences

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Around 4:30 a.m. this morning, police responded to a residence on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg to assist EMS.

Through investigation, a woman in the residence was found to be in possession of suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, debt list and a scale.

The 21-year-old Wallaceburg woman was arrested and charged with two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking.

She remains in police custody this morning.

Observant Citizen reports Suspicious Activity

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly after 5:00 a.m. this morning, police responded to the report of a break and enter in progress at Trillium Village in Chatham.

Police located the man near a laundry room window with tools in hand.

Through investigation, police learned that the man was currently wanted on several warrants and that he was bound by a curfew.

The 27-year-old Chatham man was arrested on the outstanding warrants and further charged with trespassing by night, failing to comply with his release conditions, being in possession of stolen cheques and break and enter tools.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen Vehicle in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between July 16 at 11:00 a.m. and July 21 at 9:00 a.m. unknown suspect(s) stole a black 2018 Ford Fusion from a parking lot on Trillium Lane.

The vehicle was last seen with Ontario license plates MUGSZEE.

Break and Enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between July 18 at 7:00 p.m. and July 21 at 4:30 p.m. unknown suspect(s) forced their way into a residence on Grand Avenue East, causing about $200 damage.

Once inside, the suspect(s) stole an LG speaker tower with turn table, paint supplies and four trespassing signs. Total value of the theft has been estimated at $820.

Traffic Enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, police conducted traffic enforcement on Middle Line.

Nineteen (19) motorists were stopped and charged with speeding.
