Man charged with being intoxicated in a public place

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: This morning at approximately 2:28 a.m. police responded to a disturbance call at an address on King Street West in Chatham.

Through investigation, police located an intoxicated man outside the building who was unable to care for himself.

For his own safety, the man was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.

The 51-year-old man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place and released this morning when sober.

Break and enter

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On Saturday, August 21, 2021 at about 5:10 a.m. police responded to a break and enter on Splinter Line in Thamesville.

The owner of the business was viewing a male party break into his business on video surveillance, and watched his vehicle being stolen.

The vehicle was later located, abandoned.

The suspect, matching the identity of the male party in the surveillance video, was located walking away from the vehicle.

The 35-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, fail to comply with release orders x 2, possession of CDSA and multiple Highway Traffic Act charges.

He was transported to Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters, and lodged until a bail hearing.

Disturbance leads to charges

On Saturday, August 21, 2021 at about 2:22 p.m. police were dispatched to the area of Oriole Pkwy, to a suspicious person call.

A 26-year-old Chatham man was located taking illicit drugs in front of residents.

Upon arrival, the suspect became irate at police.

He was arrested for cause disturbance, resist arrest and possession of CDSA.

The man was taken away from the area and later released with a future court date of September 22, 2021.
