Wallaceburg Terry Fox Run 2021

On this day in 1980, Terry had to stop his Marathon of Hope after learning that his cancer had returned. He promised us all that if there was any way he could continue, he would. “It’s got to keep going without me,” Terry said. He knew there was a chance he might not get back on the road and he put his trust in us to continue raising money for cancer research.

Nothing we say will ever truly convey Terry’s profound sense of optimism and hope for a future without cancer. Watch the video below to hear Terry in his own words describe the importance of funding cancer research and how anything is possible if you try.

With one in two Canadians now expected to battle cancer in their lifetime, the need for cancer research has never been more urgent. The impact of COVID-19 on cancer care throughout the country has been substantial. Cancer hasn’t taken a break and continues to deeply affect millions of people. Perhaps not since 1980 have we seen such a dire need for cancer research to ensure we can combat the negative effects of disrupted screenings, surgeries, and interventions for years to come.

We need your help to fund critical cancer research that will make a difference in the lives of Canadians. Register and fundraise once again for the Terry Fox Virtual Run. One Day. Your Way.

Thank you for your generous and continued support of The Terry Fox Foundation.
