Deadline to apply to vote by mail, KFA debate set for Tuesday

The deadline to apply to vote by mail in the upcoming Federal Election is Tuesday, September 14 at 6 p.m., local time.

“After approving an elector’s application to vote by mail, Elections Canada sends them a special ballot voting kit,” Election Canada officials say.

“Each special ballot voting kit includes a pre-addressed return envelope with prepaid postage. Electors whose return envelope is addressed to their local Elections Canada office must return their completed special ballot either by mail or in person to that office. They can also return it in person at their polling station by dropping it in a ballot box specifically set up for that purpose before polls close on election day, that is, Monday, September 20.”

The Kent Federation of Agriculture is holding an all-candidates forum on September 14 at 7 p.m. for candidates in Lambton-Kent-Middlesex.

The event is being held at the Brooke Alvinston Inwood Community Centre Complex, in the new outdoor pavilion.

People are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs.

The main entrance is at the corner of Park Street and Morrell Street in Alvinston.

KFA officials say the forum will take the same format as in the past election:

– Three minutes for opening statements in the order chosen by drawing numbers.

– Pre-submitted questions posed to all by the moderator in the same order (none from the floor).

– Closing comments are usually two minutes long in the opposite order.

“Questions can be submitted online by either pre-registering or sending them to info@lambtonfederation.ca,” KFA officials say.

“Please pre-register if you are planning to attend as we are required to collect details for contact tracing. We will not disclose this information unless requested by Lambton Public Health.”

Election Canada officials say the following individuals have been confirmed as candidates in the riding (click on their name below to be directed to their websites):
