Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith cracks Edmonton Oilers training camp roster

For the second year in a row, Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith has been named to the training camp roster for the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers.

Griffith, 28, played last season for Edmonton’s AHL affiliate in Bakersfield.

In 39 games last season, Griffith scored 10 goals and recorded 18 assists.

He signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Oilers on Friday, October 9, 2020.

In 79 career NHL games, Griffith has scored eight goals and added 11 assists.

Oilers officials say training camp has started with seven goaltenders, 18 defencemen and 36 forwards ahead of the 2021-22 National Hockey League season.

Oilers officials say training camp opened with medicals and fitness testing.

The first on-ice sessions will be held Thursday.

The Oilers will open their eight-game preseason schedule on the road against the Calgary Flames on Sunday at 7 p.m., followed by the Seattle Kraken’s first-ever visit to Edmonton on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

All preseason games will be streamed live on EdmontonOilers.com, except for the matchups with the Vancouver Canucks on Oct. 7 and Oct. 9, which will be televised on Sportsnet.

The Oilers open the ’21-22 regular season against the Canucks on Oct. 13 in Edmonton.
