Update: 6th arrest made in Walpole Island murder case

Lambton OPP officials allege: A sixth person has now been charged in connection with a homicide on Walpole Island First Nation.

On October 15, 2021, the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit, with assistance from OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and Waterloo Regional Police, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), attended a Kitchener address and arrested an individual.

Zy’Shaun Lawrence, 20-years-old of Kitchener, has been charged with the following:

– Accessory After the Fact to Murder, pursuant to section 240 of the Criminal Code and,

– Indignity to a dead body, pursuant to section 182(b) of the Criminal Code.

The accused has been held in custody following a bail hearing on October 16, 2021.

On March 17, 2021, the remains of Oyebode Oyenuga were found on Walpole Island First Nation.

The deceased was reported missing to the Windsor Police Service in February, 2021.
