Man charged with theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, police responded to a theft complaint at a business on Keil Drive in Chatham.

Through investigation, police located the man a short time later, still in possession of the stolen items.

A 30-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of December 28, 2021.

Man breaches release conditions

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: As previously released, on Monday, a local man was arrested and charged with harassing his ex-girlfriend via Facebook.

The man was released from custody with several conditions.

One of those conditions stated that he was not to communicate with the woman.

Last night, the man sent another message to the woman using Facebook messenger.

The 41-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, members of the Traffic Unit monitored traffic and parking on Birchwood Street in Chatham.

The officers also conducted speed enforcement on Baird Avenue in Wheatley.

No infractions were observed regarding either of these on-going traffic complaints.

Motor vehicle collision

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning, police responded to a two vehicle collision on Grand River Line between Town Line Road and Jacob Road.

No one was injured.

Total damage was estimated at $30,000.

A 17-year-old Chatham teen was charged with making a u-turn, when there was no clear view.

Theft of tools in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, unknown suspects entered a storage unit on Sixth Street, causing about $200 damage.

Once inside, the suspects stole various tools, valued at $1,300.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between October 17 and October 26 unknown suspects forced their way into a home on O’Neil Street, causing about $50 damage.

Police continue to work with the family to determine what, if anything, was stolen.
