Report of suspicious person leads to arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On November 12, 2021 a man was released from Court with several conditions.

Two of those conditions stated that he was not to possess any weapons or identification that was not lawfully issued to him.

Last night around 11:30 p.m. police responded to the report of a suspicious person sleeping inside the lobby of a business in Chatham.

Next to the man was a backpack with a 12” silver butcher knife.

Through investigation, officers identified the man and he was arrested.

Upon being searched incident to arrest, the man was found to be in possession of a 4” serrated knife and driver’s license belonging to a Chatham woman.

The man was also arrested in connection with a theft investigation.

The 37-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been charged with theft under $5,000, being in possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man charged with driving while under suspension

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, an officer on general patrol in Wallaceburg initiated a traffic stop on Robert Street.

The driver, a 27-year-old Brampton man, was charged with driving while under suspension, failing to produce insurance and failing to display two license plates.

He will be required to attend Provincial Offences Court on December 15, 2021.

Stolen truck in Bothwell

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: The Chatham-Kent Police Service are looking for the public’s assistance in locating an unplated green 1998 GMC Sierra pick-up truck, that was last seen at a residence on Tower Road.

Theft of tools in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime over the weekend, unknown suspects stole various tools from an apartment complex under construction on Park Avenue West.

Total value of the theft has been estimated at $5,000.
