Driver found asleep behind the wheel on Highway 40, impaired driving charges laid

Lambton OPP officials allege: On January 8, 2022 at 1:30 a.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol and observed a vehicle parked on the shoulder of Highway 40 with two occupants sleeping inside.

The officer stopped to check on the occupants and, upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was displaying signs of impairment.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two samples of breath above the legal limit.

A 52-year-old Windsor man has been charged with the following:

– Operation While Impaired and,

– Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
