James Street Comfort Centre set to open in downtown Wallaceburg

The James Street Comfort Centre, located at 719 James Street inside the hall at St. James Anglican Church, is set to open in Wallaceburg.

Wes Thompson, president of the United Way of Chatham-Kent’s board of directors, told the Sydenham Current the centre will be a place to go for food and warmth.

It is tentatively set to open on Friday, January 14, 2022, Thompson added.

The hours of operation will be 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Thompson said if the public health unit puts out a weather warning, they will be able to take people overnight.

Thompson said they are looking to train and hire someone full time to oversee the Comfort Centre.
