The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) has announced the addition of new physicians to the organization.
Dr. Samar Tabl joins the department of Anaesthesia, Dr. Brent Herrit joins the department of Critical Care, Dr. Juan Arminan Cordies joins as a General Surgeon and Dr. Asad Naeem joins as a Hospitalist.
“We are pleased to welcome Doctors Tabl, Herrit, Cordies and Naeem to CKHA,” said Dr. Pervez Faruqi, Chief of Staff, CKHA, in a press release.
“Their skills, knowledge and expertise will enhance our delivery of Patient and Family Centred Care.”
Dr. Samar Tabl Dr. earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and her PhD from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt.
Hospital officials say she worked for a number of years in Cairo, Egypt, as an Anaesthesiologist prior to moving to Canada with her family.
She completed her Anaesthesia Residency at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon followed by an Obstetrics Anaesthesia Fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto in 2015.
For six years she worked as an Anaesthesiologist at Dr. F. H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, where she was also an Assistant Professor, Department of Anesthesiology, Peri-operative Medicine and Pain Management, at University of Saskatchewan, before joining CKHA.
She also is an Assistant Professor, Department of Anesthesiology, Peri-operative Medicine, at Queen’s University, Ontario.
Hospital officials say Dr. Brent Herritt was born and raised in St. Johns, Newfoundland where he attended Memorial University of Newfoundland to receive his Bachelor of Science as well as his Doctor of Medicine.
He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Ottawa, where he then went on to complete a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Herritt has a strong interest in research and medical education.
He has been credited in Critical Care journals across North America and spent five years as a lecturer at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
In his spare time Dr. Herritt enjoys staying active and traveling.
In the past he has combined these two hobbies by cycling through the Alps and Vietnam.
He also enjoys learning foreign languages and is fluent in German.
Along with his duties in the Critical Care department, Dr. Herritt will assume the role of Head of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at CKHA, hospital officials added.
A native of Cuba, Dr. Arminan Cordies completed his Doctor of Medicine in Havana. He completed a General Surgery Residency and an Upper GI/MIS/Bariatric Fellowship at the University of Calgary in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
Most recently, Dr. Cordies completed locums throughout Alberta and in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
Dr. Cordies is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and a licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada as well as the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Dr. Cordies will begin accepting referrals in February 2022.

After growing up in London, Dr. Asad Naeem attended Western University and received a Bachelors Degree, Honours Specialization in Commercial Aviation Management in 2013.
He then earned his Doctor of Medicine from University of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Kitts, graduating with highest honours in 2017.
Dr. Naeem has spent the past three years completing his Family Medicine Residency training at Southern Illinois University of Medicine in Decatur, Illinois.
Dr. Asad Naeem joins his sister, Dr. Aimen Naeem, in the Hospitalist program at CKHA.
He is looking forward to moving back to Southwestern Ontario and having his wife join CKHA’s team later this year, hospital officials added.
