53rd COVID-19 death reported in Chatham-Kent

The 53rd COVID-19 death has been reported in Chatham-Kent.

Jeff Moco, a spokesperson for CK Public Health, says the most recent death was a man in his 70’s.

CK Public Health officials say 75 new COVID-19 cases were reported on Friday, increasing the total number of cases to 6,473 since the pandemic began.

A total of 10 people are currently hospitalized for COVID-19 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, public health officials added.

The current seven day rolling average case count (average number per day) sits at 33.

Public health officials say two outbreaks are active across Chatham-Kent:

– An outbreak at an un-named group home, declared on February 7, 2022, involves two cases.

– An outbreak at Village on the Ridge in Ridgetown, declared on January 17, 2022, involves 43 cases.

A total of 211,352 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to date, 84,901 people 5+ have received at least one dose, 80,762 people 5+ have received two doses and 47,288 5+ have received three doses.
