Police: Domestic assault, impaired driving, shoplifting

Shoplifting in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday afternoon, police were dispatched to attend a business on Queen Street in the city of Chatham for reports of a female shoplifting in the store.

The female was located just outside the store and was immediately arrested.

Further police checks revealed that she was currently bound by court orders not to attend this business.

The female was charged with; two counts of failing to comply with her probation order, fail to comply with undertaking, fail to comply with release order, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and possession of a controlled substance after methamphetamine was located on her.

She has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Impaired driver

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police received reports of a female passed out behind the wheel of her vehicle on Dundas Street in the town of Wallaceburg.

Police located the female and placed her under arrest for impaired operation.

She was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Headquarters where she blew more than double the legal limit.

A 48-year-old Dresden woman was charged with operation while impaired and exceeding the blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

She was released from custody with a future court date.

Family dispute leads to arrest

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, police responded to a disturbance at a residence in Dover Township.

Police learned that the accused male, had followed his mother into the bathroom of the residence where he assaulted her.

The female attempted to leave the bathroom but the accused stood in the doorway and forcefully kept her cornered in the bathroom.

The accused father attempted to intervene, however, the accused grabbed ahold of him pulling him down and cutting his arm.

Police arrived on scene and attempted to place the accused under arrest when he attempted to pull away from officers.

The accused was eventually arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service Headquarters.

The accused has been charged with; two counts of assault, assault causing bodily harm, forcible confinement and resisting arrest.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
