Construction has begun inside the ER at Wallaceburg’s hospital.
“Please be advised that construction crews will begin work (on Monday) inside our Wallaceburg Site Emergency Department,” Chatham-Kent Health Alliance officials posted on social media.
“Thank you to our patients, visitors and care partners for your patience during this time.”
Back in December, hospital officials said the renewal of the Wallaceburg site took another significant step with the Ministry of Health approving the organization’s Stage 1: Proposal Submission in the next phase of the redevelopment project.
Approval of the Stage 1 submission indicates the organization can move to Stage 2: Functional Program in the planning process, CKHA officials said at the time.
Monte McNaughton, the Minister of Labour, Training and Skills Development and MPP for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, was in town for the announcement on Friday, December 3, 2021.
“I was proud to announce that Wallaceburg is getting a new hospital,” McNaughton tweeted in December.
“From rowdy kids who need stitches, to our parents and grandparents who may require extra care, this hospital will serve our community for generations to come.”
