Pair of stolen vehicles recovered on the same day leads to multiple charges
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning at approximately 6:30 a.m., police were called to an address on Gosnell Line, near Ridgetown in regards to stolen property, including a stolen motor vehicle.
Through investigation police learned sometime between 3:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. suspects stole a 2004 Ford Expedition, taken from the victim’s driveway along with other property worth approximately $8,000.
At approximately 7 a.m. police were called to an address on Grand Avenue East near Curran Crescent in Chatham in regards to an additional theft of a motor vehicle.
The victim advised, he left his work issued white Nissan van running outside the door when an he observed an unknown party enter the van and proceed to drive away.
While attending the address on Grand Avenue East, police located the 2004 Ford Expedition, stolen earlier that morning.
The vehicle has been towed and the rightful owner has been contacted.
Using GPS updates officers were able to track and intercept the white Nissan van to the area of Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.
Police located a male matching the security footage obtained during the vehicle theft and identified him to be the accused in the matter.
A search incident to arrest revealed the accused to be in possession of firearm magazines loaded with what appeared to be live .22 cal ammunition, which contravened his current prohibition order.
The 24-year-old Walpole Island male was arrested and charged with one count of theft over $5,000, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and three counts of weapon possession contrary to Prohibition Order.
The accused has been held in custody pending bail.

Attempt stolen vehicle in Ridgetown
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday morning at approximately 8:30 a.m. police were called to an address on Reeders Line, near Ridgetown in regards to a break and enter.
Through investigation police believe sometime between 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2 and 8 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, suspects broke into the victims implement shed and attempted to steal the complainant’s motor vehicle.
The suspects made several attempts to steal the motor vehicle; however, were unsuccessful and as a result caused approximately $7,000 damage.
