Strong wind expected Sunday, special weather statement issued

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement in Chatham-Kent, as strong wind is expected Sunday.

Forecasters say hazards include: strong wind gusts of 80 to 90 km/h, localized gusts in excess of 100 km/h are possible and widespread power outages are possible as well

This is expected on Sunday morning and afternoon.

“Strong southwest wind will develop late Sunday morning or early Sunday afternoon as a cold front moves through southern Ontario,” forecasters say.

“Thunderstorms developing along this cold front may bring localized wind gusts in excess of 100 km/h.”
