Man arrested for bail violations

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On November 24, 2021 a man was released by the court on several conditions including, but not limited to, not to communicate with another man, not to attend this man’s residence on Base Line or be within 100 meters of him.

On April 6, 2022 shortly before 11:30 p.m. police responded to this address on Base Line and found the man asleep on the sofa.

The 30-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with four counts of failing to comply with release order and one count of being in possession of stolen property.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 7, 2022, shortly after midnight, police conducted a traffic stop and learned the driver had been released by the court on April 7, 2021 with conditions and a future court date.

The conditions included a curfew.

As police attempted to arrest the man, he refused to exit his vehicle.

Police eventually were able to remove him and place him under arrest.

Through investigation police located a spring-loaded knife on his person and suspected cocaine in his vehicle.

The 32-year-old Chatham Township man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply with a release order, resisting a peace officer and possession of a prohibited weapon.

He was transported to headquarters and held for bail.
