Man arrested for theft and possession of stolen property

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday at approximately 3:30 p.m. a man was located on Grand Avenue East in Chatham in possession of a propane tank.

Through investigation police learned the tank was stolen from a local business.

The 45-year-old Chatham man was arrested for theft and possession of stolen property.

He was released with a future court date of May 20, 2022.

Man arrested for bail violations

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 10, 2022 the man was released by the court with conditions including to not communicate with a woman.

Shortly after his release the man attempted to contact the woman by using a social media app.

The 27-year-old Wallaceburg man was located in Chatham and arrested.

He was charged with failing to comply with release order.

He was transported to police headquarters and held for a bail hearing.

Break and enter in Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between April 8 and April 9, unknown suspects forced their way into a storage unit on Grand Avenue East in Chatham.

Once inside the suspects stole several Milwaukee power tools.

The total estimated value of the theft was $5,000.

Break and enter in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Sometime between April 7 and April 9, unknown suspects forced their way into a residence on Selkirk Street in Wallaceburg.

Once inside the suspects stole a set of vehicle keys and numerous old Canadian $1 bills.

Man charged with failing to comply

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On March 4, 2022 the man was released from the court with several conditions.

Two of the conditions stated that he was not to leave his residence without his surety or to operate a motor vehicle.

Yesterday evening, police learned the man had left his residence in a motor vehicle, after engaging in a verbal argument with his surety.

He was later located at a Dresden residence without his surety and in possession of that motor vehicle.

The 32-year-old Dresden man was arrested and charged with two counts of failing to comply.

He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
