The Chatham-Kent Wildcats U12 Girls squad captured the Ontario Cup Division 2 championship earlier this month.
The team was ranked 6th heading into the tournament.
The Wildcats played Game #1 on Friday, April 8, 2022 against the second ranked Pelham Panthers.
Chatham-Kent came out with a 31-22 win.
Cristelle Suffi lead the way with 11 pts, while Kayce Ferren chipped in the five points and Jules Orr chipped in with 4 points.
Game #2 was held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 against the third ranked KW Vipers.
The Wilcats dominated in a 44-8 victory.
Macy VanMoorsel scored 10 points, Clair Ellis added six points and Wallaceburg’s Aliyah Lee-Hermitt added four points.
Game #3, also played on Saturday, April 9, 2022 was against the seventh ranked Etobicoke Thunder.
Chatham-Kent came out on top, however the final score was not available.
Scarlett Leigh scored six points, while Rebecca Morrison added four points and Abby Johnston scored three points.
Game #4 was the gold medal game on Sunday, April 10, 2022 against the eighth ranked Huron Lakers.
The championship game was a very close, back and forth game.
In the end, the Wildcats won in overtime, 36-31.
Suffi led the way with 17 points, Wallaceburg’s Alyssa Lee-Hermitt scored five points and Leah Parker added three points.
