Wallaceburg Bike Rodeo deemed a success

Organizers for the Wallaceburg Bike Rodeo, held on June 18, 2022 are calling the event a success.

“With 53 children in attendance, there were over 40 prizes given away including two grand prizes, a new bike and scooter,: organizers said in a media release.

“The Wallaceburg Bike Rodeo Committee introduced several new initiatives this year. The most popular one was the Watermelon Helmet Drop demo, which demonstrated how a helmet can save one’s life. Also thanks to a last minute boost from The Right Connection, a bike exchange program was created to help make sure that every child had a safe and reliable bike that fit them properly.”

Organizers added: “It was truly a community event, one child not only exchanged in his old bike for a bigger one, with the help of several of our volunteers and the Chatham-Kent Police officers; he learned how to ride a bike with no train wheels for the first time on that day. The joy of his accomplishment could be felt by all.”

The Wallaceburg Bike Rodeo also wanted to thank their host The Knights of Pythias and their partners, the Chatham-Kent Police Service, the Chatham-Kent Public Library Wallaceburg Branch and The Wallaceburg Biking Community for their assistance in the success of this event.

Organizers also wanted to thank all their sponsors for continually supporting their bike safety
initiative:

“Without our sponsors we could not continue and to grow bigger and better every year,” organizers say.

The committee also wanted to thank all their volunteers.

“Without your hands, smiles and energy, the individual accomplishment by the children would never have happen,” organizers say.

“We truly appreciate you taking six hours of your day to help set up, work with the children and clean up. We are grateful for the help.”

Next up, the Wallaceburg Bike Rodeo Committee is holding the Super Summer Safety event, which is aimed at helping keep children safe and to encourage them to follow bike, scooter, roller blade and/or skateboard safety.

“Arrangements have been made to hand out coupons for a sweet treat to children found riding/rolling safely by the Chatham-Kent Police Services,” organizers say.

“We would like to thank our July sponsor The Sugar Shack and our August Sponsor McDonald’s for their generosity and community support in helping encourage children to ride safely.”
