Fail to remain leads to impaired driving charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday evening, police responded to a fail to remain motor vehicle collision in the area of Garden Path and Balmoral Road in Chatham. 

Police located the vehicle a short distance away on Baldoon Road. 

The driver, a 24-year-old Ottawa man, showed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired operation of a conveyance. 

The man was transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service headquarters for breath tests. 

While in the back of the cruiser, the man began spitting in the back seat. 

At police headquarters, the man blew nearly twice the legal limit. 

The man was charged with; operation while impaired, operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus) and mischief under $5,000. 

He was additionally charged under the Highway Traffic Act for; fail to remain, fail to give required information and operating a motor vehicle with no insurance. 

He has been released from custody pending a future court date of July 8, 2022.

Traffic stop leads to impaired driving charges

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night, police observed a motor vehicle swerving within its lane on Ashton Avenue in Wallaceburg.

Police initiated a traffic stop and believed the driver was impaired by alcohol

The driver, a 70-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police
Service headquarters where he blew more than double the legal limit.

The man was charged with operation while impaired and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

He has been released from custody pending a future court date of July , 2022.
