Lambton OPP officials allege: The two cyclists who were struck and killed on River Road have been identified as Michelle White, 36-years-old and Gretta Williams, 50-years-old, both of Walpole Island First Nation.
On June 22, 2022 shortly before 5 a.m., members of Walpole Island Police Service and Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded, along with Chatham-Kent Emergency Medical Service and Walpole Island Fire Department, to the report of two cyclists that had been struck by a vehicle on River Road.
The cyclists were pronounced deceased at the scene and the driver was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
River Road was closed for the investigation between Firehall Road and Austin Road.
The investigation is continuing, and further updates will be provided when they become available.
