Heat warning
A two day heat event is expected today and Canada Day Friday.
Maximum temperatures are expected to reach near 32 degrees Celsius with overnight minimums near 21 degrees Celsius.
Humidex values are expected to be in the mid thirties.
The heat event is expected to come to an end on Friday night.
Hot and humid air can also bring deteriorating air quality and can result in the air quality health index approaching the high risk category.
The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place.
Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
Watch for the symptoms of heat illness: dizziness/fainting; nausea/vomiting; rapid breathing and heartbeat; extreme thirst; decreased urination with unusually dark urine.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
