Woman arrested for theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Shortly before noon yesterday, police responded to the LCBO on Wellington Street West in Chatham for a theft complaint.

Police learned the woman removed a bottle of wine from the shelves and left the store without paying for the product.

The woman was located and arrested.

The 39-year-old Chatham-Kent woman was charged with theft and possessing stolen property.

She was released with a future court date of August 17, 2022.

Man arrested for mischief and a drug offence

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Last night at 9:07 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity at the Fifth Street bridge in Chatham.

Police arrived and found a gathering of people.

The man was identified as the suspect in the attempted theft of catalytic converters earlier in the day and was arrested.

Upon arrest, the man was found possessing suspected Fentanyl, a controlled substance.

The 33-year-old Chatham-Kent Man was arrested and charged with mischief over $5000 and possession of a controlled substance.

He was transported to police headquarters and later released with a future court date of August 18, 2022

Man arrested for intoxicated in a public place

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Early this morning, at 2:37 a.m., police responded to a suspicious person complaint on Albert Street in Wallaceburg.

It was reported the man was stumbling and walking in the roadway.

Police arrived on the scene and found the man intoxicated and unable to care for himself.

The 45-year-old Wallaceburg man was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

He was transported to police headquarters and held until he was sober.
