Chatham-Kent receives quarterly payment from the OLG

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) made a first quarter (April 1 – June 30) payment totaling $423,773 to the Municipality of Chatham-Kent for hosting Cascades Casino Chatham.

OLG officials say since the gaming site opened in April 2001, Chatham-Kent has received $14,877,704.

These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.

“OLG is proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic recovery, infrastructure development and job creation,” OLG officials said, in a media release.

“Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario – 100 per cent of OLG’s profits are reinvested in the province.”

Over the past seven years, service providers have invested an estimated $1.8 billion in private sector capital development across the province.

Since 2017, these investments have led to the development and opening of six new casinos, with two more currently under construction.

In addition, a number of existing casinos have been enhanced and/or expanded, OLG officials added.

Since 1994, host communities have received more than $1.86 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
