Man arrested for theft

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 7:09 p.m. on Thursday, police responded to a theft from a business on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

Police were about to identify the man through surveillance videos.

The 51-year-old Chatham man was located and arrested.

He was charged with theft and released with a future court date.

Man arrested for bail violations

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On July 13, 2022, the man was released by the court with a condition to remain in their residence 24 hours a day, with a specific exception.

On August 10, 2022, at 3:15 a.m., police began an investigation into a complaint the man was not complying with his release conditions.

The violation was confirmed.

On August 11, 2022, at 11:36 a.m., the 27-year-old Wallaceburg man was located and arrested.

He was charged with failing to comply with a release order.

He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Traffic enforcement

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: Yesterday, Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Unit members conducted traffic enforcement throughout the Municipality, specifically on Charring Cross Road in Harwich Township; McCreary Line, Communication Road & Longwoods Road in Chatham Township; and St. Clair Street & McNaughton Avenue East in Chatham.

A total of 17 tickets were issued for various offences relating to speeding.

The Chatham-Kent Police Service reminds motorists to obey the speed limit.

Speed is a significant factor in collisions with severe and fatal injuries.
