Lambton OPP officials allege: One person sustained life-threatening injuries and another person remains in hospital following an incident on the water near the City of Sarnia.
On August 20, 2022, at approximately 11:56 a.m., members of the Lambton Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for assistance from the Sarnia Police Service after receiving a report of a possible drowning at a beach near Fort Street in Point Edward.
The Sarnia and Point Edward Fire Departments, along with the United States Coast Guard and a member of the public, assisted the OPP in rescuing two people in distress in the water.
Both individuals were transported to hospital in Sarnia. One victim was subsequently transferred to hospital in London for treatment.
