Mrs. Alta (Dalton) Johnston, a resident of Wallaceburg, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Site, at the age of 87.
Alta was born in Sarnia and was the daughter of the late Paul and Edna (Curran) Dalton.
Beloved wife of the late Patrick Johnston (2016).
Loving mother and mother-in-law of Christopher (April) Sharpe, Greg (Shelley) Sharpe, and the late Timothy (Luisa) Sharpe.
Sadly missed by her grandchildren Jason (Lisa), Jeremy (Stephanie), Jilisa, Kalynn (Kerry), Melissa (Kristopher), Lauren (Raymond), Sylvia (Trevor), Kristina (Chad), as well as 17 great grandchildren.
Kind sister of Bill (the late Jane) Dalton.
Predeceased by her brothers Leo (the late Peggy) Dalton, Dr. Eric Dalton, and Tom Dalton (the late Madlyn).
Alta was a dedicated nurse during her career at the Wallaceburg hospital. She was a kind and generous woman, who enjoyed hosting family and friends, traveling to warm climates during the winter, and having coffee with her friends. She will be missed by many.
The late Alta Johnston rested at the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg.
Following her wishes, cremation will take place.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 23, 2022 from Our Lady Help of Christians Church, in Wallaceburg, at 11 a.m. with two hours of visitation prior to the mass from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the church.
A private family interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to St. Vincent de Paul or the Canadian Cancer Society may be left at the funeral home.
