The Sydenham River is about to become very spooky, when paddlers are exchanging paddles for brooms.
A ‘Witches & Wizards’ paddle is being held on Saturday, October 15 at 1 p.m.
“Calling all witches, wizards, for an afternoon paddle,” organizers say.
“Bring your non-motorized SUPs, kayaks, canoes, or peddle boats for a magical ride down the river. Show off your awesome decorated boats to spook the town and get their heads turning.”
The event is free and no sign up is required.
“Show up, dress up and have fun, or head on downtown and watch the ‘witches and wizards’ paddle by,” organizers say.
Anyone interested in taking part can meet at the Wallace Street and Huron Street boat launch, just off of Gillard Street in Wallaceburg.
Organizers are recommending participants bring some items, including: boat and paddles, and a safety kit, which includes a 50 foot tow row, whistle, bailer, etc.
“If you need a kayak to join in the fun, we will have boats available at the launch site,” organizers added.
