On Thursday, October 27th Chatham-Kent Fire & Rescue crews from all 19 fire stations when door-to-door offering home alarm checks for the first official CHiRP Day in CK.
Firefighters visited 753 homes across the municipality, marking the largest one-day fire safety canvasing event in the history of the department.

“Every one of our stations, our Chief Officers, our administration team and our EMS partners were out on the streets of Chatham-Kent yesterday promoting home safety via our CHiRP campaign,” stated Chief Chris Case, in a media release.
“Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms were provided but most importantly our communities met with their firefighters and were able to talk about the safety of their homes and their families. Every member of our service has the safety of their community as their first priority. I’m delighted that so many homes yesterday had a firefighter entering holding a smoke alarm rather than a hose line.”
Chatham Kent Fire & Rescue’s CHiRP Home Alarm Check program provides residents with fire safety education, while checking, testing, and replacing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.
CHiRP Home Alarms Checks are available any time of year.
