Chatham-Kent Health Alliance (CKHA) has announced the addition of three new physicians to the organization.
Dr. Anthony Piazza joins the Emergency Medicine Department, Dr. Andrew Su joins the Hospitalist program, and Dr. Wael Hasan joins the Department of Surgery as an Otolaryngologist (ENT).
“We are so pleased to welcome Dr. Piazza, Dr. Su and Dr. Hasan to CKHA and the community of Chatham-Kent,” said Dr. Pervez Faruqi, Chief of Staff, CKHA, in a media release.
“Their skills, knowledge and contributions to our programs and services will be a great addition to CKHA and help us further our commitment to delivering Patient and Family Centred Care.”
Dr. Anthony Piazza grew up in Windsor, Ontario and completed medical school at Western University in London, Ontario.
Hospital officials say he recently completed his residency training with McMaster University, with a focus on community practice in the Halton region.
“A friend working in the Emergency department at CKHA described it as a fast paced, collegial and supportive environment. Hearing this, I was excited to join the team at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance as I start my career focused in Emergency Medicine” said Dr. Piazza, in a press release.
Dr. Andrew Su attended McGill University and earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with Distinction, First Class Honours in Pharmacology in 2015.
He went on to get his Doctor of Medicine with Schulich School of Medicine, Western University (Windsor Campus).
He completed his Family Medicine Residency in 2021 at Mount Sinai Hospital.
He elected to complete an additional fellowship in Hospital Medicine with the University of Toronto.
“I’m excited for this opportunity at CKHA not just for the medical care itself but also the community,” said Dr. Su, in a media release.
“I feel one of the best ways to learn about a community is through the patients and why you become a Hospitalist is not just taking care of their medical conditions but also being a part of their life through your care.”
Dr. Wael Hasan graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland where he completed his residency training in Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery.
CKHA officials say during these training years, Dr. Hasan completed the Basic Surgical Training (CCBST) and was awarded a Master of Surgery Degree (MCh) by the University College of Dublin and The National University of Ireland.
After working as a University Lecturer and a clinical tutor at the University College of Dublin and St. Vincent’s University Hospital in Ireland, he moved to Toronto to continue his training as a clinical Head & Neck Surgical Oncology Fellow at the University of Toronto.
“I was very impressed by how welcoming and friendly the people and the staff are at CKHA,” said Dr. Hasan, in a media release.
“During my first visit, I was immediately received and treated by everyone as a local. It will be a great honour and a pleasure to serve the people of this community.”
