Boil water advisory remains in place across Wallaceburg

Update at 3:09 p.m. – From the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit: “The first water sample has come back clear. A second water sample has been taken and we will have those results on Saturday, November 12th. Once the second sample comes back clear, the Boil Water Advisory issued for the Wallaceburg area on Wednesday, November 9th will then be lifted. For updates, please call: 519-436-3250.”

The boil water advisory across Wallaceburg remains in effect as of 2 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2022.

Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit officials confirmed the news about the advisory, which was issued to all consumers of the Wallaceburg Distribution System on the Chatham-Kent Municipal water supply on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, on their water advisory update line.

“Repairs have been completed and the first set of water samples have been taken,” public health officials say.

“The boil water advisory will remain in place until the Health Unit receives good results from two consecutive sets of samples taken a minimum of 24 hours a part.”

Public health officials added: “The next pre-recorded updated will be available (on) Friday. November 11, 2022 by 4 p.m.”

The advisory was issued after a water main break on Wednesday and subsequent repair.

Chatham-Kent’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. David Colby, has advised residents to bring their water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to using it for domestic purposes e.g. drinking, making infant formula and juice, brushing teeth, washing raw foods and making ice.
