Police: Three counts of assault, bail violations

Man arrested for bail violations

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On May 15, 2022, the court released the man with conditions to remain inside his residence between 11 p.m. and 8 a.m. and not to possess weapons or drugs without a valid prescription.

On November 15, 2022, at 1:51 a.m., police observed the man riding a bicycle on Wallace Street in Wallaceburg.

The man was stopped and arrested.

Upon arrest, the man was found to possess a knife and suspected methamphetamine.

The 38-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with three counts of failing to comply with a release order.

He was transported to police headquarters and held pending a bail hearing.

Man arrested for assault

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 7:13 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Blythwood Crescent in Chatham.

Police arrived on the scene to a large gathering of people in the area.

Through investigation, police learned a woman approached the man for a light for her cigarette.

The man assaulted the woman by pushing her to the ground.

The woman’s two daughters witnessed the assault and attempted to intervene.

The man struck one of the daughters in the face with his hand, which caused her to fall to the ground.

He pushed the other daughter knocking her to the ground as well.

The 34-year-old Chatham man was located and arrested.

He was charged with three counts of assault.

He was transported to police headquarters and released with conditions and a future court date of December 19, 2022.
