Wilcy Kewayosh

With heavy hearts we must announce that Wilcy Don Kewayosh Sr., a proud member of Walpole Island First Nation has passed away on December 7, 2022 at the age of 88.

He has now been reunited with his beloved wife Lucille Kewayosh (2011).

Loving father of Linda (Lyle) Johnson, Randy (Nanette) Kewayosh, Rick (Diana) Kewayosh, Wilcy Jr. (Evelyn) Kewayosh, Carla Kewayosh, Tena Kewayosh and the late Michael and Renita Kewayosh. Dear grandfather of Aaron, Tara, Alicia, Alwyn, Kara, Jenelle, Jessica, Jessie, Liberty, Ki, Corey, Brysen, Troy, Jarrod and the late Tasha (2002) and Danielle (2022).

Great grandfather of 17 and great great grandfather of 9 with 2 on the way.

Wilcy is the last remaining child of Laleau and Rosie Kewayosh (White) and will be joining his siblings James, Eleanor, LaDonna, Carol and Leona.

He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and his 5 foster children.

Wilcy was an active member of his community, serving on WIFN Chief and Council and influencing many children during his years working in education.

He had a strong faith in God and was a song leader at the Evangelistic Centre.

Wilcy had a warm and kind nature and could be seen smiling away the day while carrying his trusty flashlight and having a pepsi in hand.

Family and Friends are invited for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home (409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg, 519-627-3231) on Friday, December 9, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8pm.

His funeral celebration will take place at Walpole Island Evangelistic Centre on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 1pm, followed by burial at Highbanks Cemetery.
