‘Moot’ motion pulled, employee vaccination verification and testing policy suspended

Calling her motion “moot” at Monday’s December 12, 2022 Council meeting, a North Kent Councillor pulled her notice of motion from the agenda regarding the employee vaccination verification and testing policy for Chatham-Kent administration.

Councillor Rhonda Jubenville said the executive management team in Chatham-Kent suspended the last portion of the employee vaccination verification and testing policy on December 7, 2022 regarding new hires.

Jubenville said the the executive management team’s decision was made to align with Chatham-Kent Council’s decision to suspend the vaccination verification and testing policy for council, committee and board members, which had been approved by Council after a successful motion on December 5, 2022 by Chatham Councillor Conor Allin. Story, here.

Later in the meeting, in the notice of motion portion of the agenda, Jubenville provided notice to a new motion.

The motion, if approved, states that any further vaccination, employment policies be decided upon collaboratively between Chatham-Kent Council and the Chatham-Kent executive management team through consultation and majority agreement through dialogue and Council votes.

The motion is set to be on the agenda in the new year.
