The Walpole-Algonac Ferry is set to return to normal operations on Saturday, December 31, 2022.
Ferry officials said on Thursday afternoon they were forced to close.
“Due to captain shortage and staffing illness, we are not able to run this afternoon/evening,” ferry officials posted on social media on Thursday afternoon.
“We will be closed until further notice. Sorry for the inconvenience.”
Later in the evening, ferry officials said the ferry would not run on Friday either.
“Customs requires 24 hours notice for intent to reopen,” ferry officials said.
“We should return to normal operations on Saturday, December 31, with our modified New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day hours.”
