Sgt. Lynette Hodder, the public information officer for the Chatham-Kent Police Service, told the Sydenham Current “the investigation is ongoing” after a reported shooting in Wallaceburg on December 30, 2022.
“The victim is still in hospital in stable condition and expected to be released soon,” Sgt. Hodder added.
As previously reported, officers responded to the area of Murray Street and Earl Street in Wallaceburg to investigate a disturbance at approximately 7 a.m.
“Through investigation, police learned that the victim, a 42-year-old man, was involved in an altercation with the suspect(s) and, as a result, was shot with a firearm,” police officials allege.
“The victim was transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance with serious injuries.”
Police officials said members of the Major Crime Section spearheaded the investigation.
They were asking that anyone with video surveillance in the areas of Murray Street, Wallace Street and Earl Street to please contact police.
“This is an isolated incident, and there is no concern for public safety,” police officials allege.
