Dresden Jr. Kings U18 White squad capture championship at Bradford tournament

The Dresden Jr. Kings U18 White team captured gold at the Bradford Blue & White Local League tournament on January 8, defeating the previously undefeated Belmont Rangers in the championship game.

In the first game of the tournament, the Kings dominated the Port Credit Storm, winning 7-1. Maddux Stewart and Xavier Heuvelmans each scored two goals, with singles going to Kohen Cudney, Max Lucier, and Williem Seguin. Heuvelmans, Alexandra Heuvelmans, and Kelton Cudney all contributed two assists, with Stewart, Kohen Cudney, Jackson Ross, Jake Bellamy, Dylan Badder, and Marty Elliott each adding one.

The Kings continued their strong play in the second game, defeating Wasaga Beach 6-0. Owen Tuckwell scored two goals, with Stewart, Lucier, Seguin, and Xavier Heuvelmans adding one each. Marty Elliott, Xavier Heuvelmans, and Kelton Cudney all contributed two assists, with Bellamy, Seguin, Alexandra Heuvelmans, Kohen Cudney, Alex Wallace, and Connor Ross chipping in one each. Goaltender Cody Moulton earned the shutout.

In their third game, the Kings took down the Meadowvale Hawks 4-1, with goals coming from Elliott (2), Seguin, and Xavier Heuvelmans. Seguin had two assists, with Jackson Ross, Connor Ross, Tuckwell, Wallace, Xavier Heuvelmans, and Kohen Cudney each adding one.

The Kings faced a tough test in the semi-finals, taking on the Kirkland Lake team. The game went to overtime, but the Kings came out on top with a 4-3 victory. Tuckwell scored the game-winner 2:37 into 4-on-4 overtime, with Seguin, Stewart, and Xavier Heuvelmans also scoring. Bellamy and Xavier Heuvelmans each had two assists, with Seguin, Jackson Ross, Tuckwell, and Kohen Cudney adding one each.

In the championship game, the Kings faced the Belmont Rangers, who had yet to lose in the tournament. It was a tight game, but the Kings came out on top with a 3-0 victory. Goaltender Cody Moulton played exceptionally well, earning the shutout. Kohen Cudney scored the winning goal in the first period, and added an empty netter to ice the game. Seguin also scored an empty net goal to finish off the scoring. Seguin and Xavier Heuvelmans each contributed two assists, with Tuckwell and Jackson Ross adding one each.
