With heavy hearts we announce that on Sunday, January 22, 2023, Derek Bishop peacefully reunited with his beloved wife Barbara Bishop at the age of 89.
He will be remembered as the loving father of Corinne Courteaux (David) and grandfather of Angela Wade (Craig) and Christopher Courteaux.
Dear great grandfather of Madeline, Lucas, Melody, Liam, Landon, Lily, Leo, Lauren and Mackenzie Wade and Caden Courteaux.
Derek is the last remaining child of George and Sylvia Bishop and will be joining his siblings Ken Bishop and Jackie Burton.
He will be remembered fondly as a dear brother-in-law of John (Joyce) Jeffs and Pam Jeffs as well as a loving uncle to Paula Badger (Mike), Angela Beddow (Malcolm) and the late Helen Burton.
Before coming to Canada 50 years ago, Derek served in the British National Service.
He always enjoyed fishing off his dock and participating in the Wallaceburg Archery Club.
In his younger years he was a competitive runner in England and loved a good game of golf.
His family would like to give a sincere thank you to all the staff at Wallaceburg Retirement for their caring and compassionate service.
Family and friends are invited to the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home (409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg, 519-627-3231) for visitation on Friday, January 27, 2023 from 2pm until the time of his funeral service at 4pm.
Cremation will follow. If desired, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the K-9 Klips – Emergency Animal Rescue Fund (Wallaceburg) may be left at the funeral home.
