Man charged with theft in Wallaceburg
Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At approximately 10 a.m. yesterday, police responded to Shoppers Drug Mart in Wallaceburg regarding a shoplifting complaint, as the man concealed several items and left the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise.
An officer on general patrol located the man a short distance away and as he was placed under arrest.
The identity of the suspect was verified by store security.
The 33-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with three counts of theft under $5,000 and possession of
property obtained by a crime under $5,000.
He was later released from custody with a future court date of March 27, 2023 to answer to the charges.

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At approximately 1 p.m. yesterday, police responded to Shoppers Drug Mart on St. Clair Street in Chatham, regarding a shoplifting complaint, as the man concealed several items, and left the store without making any attempt to pay for the merchandise.
The suspect was known to one of the employees of the store.
The 27-year-old Chatham man was located and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property.
