On Saturday, February 18,2023, as the sun set and the stars shined brightly in the sky, Mrs. Irene Marie Ann Primeau received her angel wings, with family by her side.
Born in Port Lambton, on August 11, 1936, to parents George & Julia (Moraz) Trella.
Growing up, Irene helped out on the family farm and was often still in the fields when her suitor, Ron Primeau, arrived to pick her up. Ron would finish the plowing so that Irene could go in and get ready for their date. That must have impressed her because they became husband and wife on October 29, 1955. In 1960 they welcomed their daughter Deborah and then in 1973, they welcomed their son Michael.
After graduating in 1955 from WDSS, Irene started her career at Schultz Die Casting. Later working at Dominion Glass, Hillerich and Bradsby, and St. Clair Tool and Die.
Irene took great pride in her garden and flowerbeds. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, golfing, boating, and spent many hours at the ball diamond watching her husband play. Later, she enjoyed playing euchre especially if it meant euchring the other team, which consisted of her husband and son-in-law. Most of all, she loved being at home cuddled up with her dog Tiger, named after her favourite golfer, eating Kit Kats, being surrounded by family, cooking delicious food, and always having her traditional green Jell-O at every family holiday meal.
Irene will be sadly missed by her beloved husband Ronald, daughter and son-in-law Debbie (Harry) Courtis, son and daughter-in-law Michael (Carmela) Primeau, grandchildren Ryan (Leah) Primeau and Luke Primeau, and great-granddaughter Aubrey Primeau.
Preceded by her mother Julia, father George, sister Helen, and brothers Mike and George.
A special thank you to the staff at The Dorchester Terrace and to the nurses, doctors, PSWs, and physiotherapists at Victoria Hospital for their compassionate care.
