Prostate cancer specialist set to speak in Wallaceburg

The Wallaceburg Prostate Cancer Support Group is holding an event on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at the UAW Hall in Wallaceburg.

The event will feature Dr. Joseph Chin and will run from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“All are welcome,” organizer said on social media.

“Have you or someone you know has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, or just wants to learn more about it? This is an opportunity that you don’t want to miss.”

The groups says Dr. Chin graduated from the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine and completed his urology training at the University of Western Ontario in 1983, becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada that year.

“His laboratory and clinical research interests were in prostate cancer management, including minimally invasive and alternative forms of management,” the group said.

“He has been a Canadian pioneer in such procedures as robotic assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy and cryosurgery for prostate cancer.”

Dr. Chin has also published well over 150 research papers and book chapters throughout his career.

Organizers say Dr. Chin will be in-person for the meeting, but a Zoom link is available for anyone that wishes to attend virtually.
