Man charged after a bank robbery in downtown Chatham

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: At 3:10 p.m. police responded to a robbery at the TD Canada Trust on King Street in Chatham.

Police received information that the man entered the bank wearing dark coat with the hood covering his head and slipped the teller a note to give him money.

Money was exchanged and the man left.

A description of the man was provided to officers as they were arriving in the area.

The man was identified later in the evening.

The 40-year-old Chatham man was charged with robbery.

He was transported to police headquarters and lodged pending a bail hearing.
