Update: Missing man located deceased, murder charge laid in Tilbury

Chatham-Kent Police Service officials allege: On April 19, 2023, the Chatham-Kent Police commenced a missing person investigation involving Daniel Marchand, 45-years-old of Tilbury, Ontario.

Marchand was reported missing on April 19, 2023 and reported to have been last seen on April 15, 2023.

Members of the Major Crime Unit took carriage of the investigation.

On April 26, 2023, the investigation brought officers to a residence on Dufferin Avenue in Tilbury, Ontario.

Marchand was discovered in the residence deceased.

The coroner’s office was contacted and commenced a death investigation.

On April 27, 2023, a post-mortem examination was completed, and the preliminary cause of death has been ruled a homicide.

Ken Baylis, 32-yearsold of Tilbury, Ontario, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

The accused has appeared in court and was remanded until a later date.

The Chatham-Kent Police wish to advise the public this is an isolated incident; there is no information to suggest members of the public were at risk.
