David “Andrew” Ardis passed away on Wednesday, May 10th, 2023 at 88 years of age. We will never forget such a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Andrew was married to Gloria for 53 years and together they enjoyed life, laughter, farming, and family. He will be deeply missed by his daughter Marcy (Gord Tetley) and his son David (Melissa Patterson). Andrew’s favourite grand daughter, Madeleine, will forever remember her special Friday mornings with Papa.
Andrew is also survived by his sisters, Joyce (Dr. Dan) Redhead and Betty (Bill) Aitken and is predeceased by his brother Donald (Helen) Ardis. His sisters-in-law Barb LaMarsh, Bonnie (Lee) Hunter, Katherine (Rob Hart) McFadden, and Wendy McFadden, and his mother-in-law, Marjorie McFadden, will also mourn Andrew’s passing. He is predeceased by his parents, Pauline and James Ardis.
Andrew could fix anything. He could back a semi truck into any space. He could tell you a story about any state or rest stop across North America or any concession around home. He loved exploring and reminiscing on Saturday morning drives with David. Andrew would do anything for his family and was very proud of Maddie. He enjoyed driving truck and even in semi-retirement he delivered RV trailers across Canada.
Andrew’s faith and love for Jesus was a central part of who he was and this was demonstrated in his daily interactions. Whether with family, friends, or a stranger he met on the road, he was generous with time, resources, and any help he could offer. Andrew was a quiet man, whose generous spirit, faith, and wisdom impacted everyone he met.
Andrew’s family will hold a private graveside service.
